Michael Owen has been proved incorrect regarding his Alexander Isak Liverpool theory, with private discussions about his fitness now coming to light. The 26-year-old has played just over 300 minutes with his new club and whilst he has managed a goal and assist, he has appeared somewhat below his usual standard.

It comes as little shock that this is the situation given the turbulent saga surrounding his future meant he had no proper pre-season whilst also being absent for the opening weeks of the new campaign. Nevertheless, Owen had anticipated that he would be capable of making an immediate impression after sharing his thoughts on the transfer.

"I don't think so [the transfer saga will weigh heavily]," Owen told the Daily Star via BetSelect back in September. "He's obviously got his dream move, one that he will think he was justified.
