Another bitterly disappointing loss for Manchester United has put head coach Ruben Amorim under mounting scrutiny, with ample time to reflect on the 3-1 defeat at Brentford's Gtech Community Stadium.

With no midweek European commitments this season, there's just one more match - a home game against Sunderland - before the October international break and potentially, a crucial decision on the manager's future. United are languishing in 14th place after Saturday's defeat, courtesy of an Igor Thiago double and a late third from Brentford's Mathias Jensen.

Only three teams have let in more goals than Amorim's side this season, all of whom are currently in the drop zone. There were some grumbles, particularly over Nathan Collins escaping a sending off for a foul on Bryan Mbeumo, but United need to focus on what lies ahead.
