Roberto De Zerbi was confirmed as the new Tottenham Hotspur head coach on Tuesday on a five-year deal, with his priority being to lift the side out of a relegation battle.

He has taken over from Igor Tudor, who was sacked after just one win in his seven games in interim charge. The 46-year-old has an immediate battle on his hands, with just seven games to go and Spurs sitting 17th in the Premier League table- only one point above the bottom three.

Roberto De Zerbi has accepted a challenge that will test every bit of his significant tactical acumen and man-management ability. The Italian tactician is scheduled to take charge of Tottenham for the first time against Sunderland away on April 12, giving him just shy of nine days to evaluate a squad that has gone the entirety of 2026 without a Premier League win.

On Wednesday, De Zerbi delivered his first public comments as the new Tottenham boss for the first time. The young tactician said that he wants to stay at the “big club” for a “long time.”
