One of the young Owls thrown into first-team action this season has shown in March that he is making great progress.

Several young Sheffield Wednesday players have been playing in the Championship when they probably needed a loan spell to experience first-team football.

One such player is Sean Fusire. He spent last season on loan at then League Two side Carlisle United, where he didn’t set the world alight.

After starting this campaign at centre midfield, he has shifted to right wingback. After initially looking out of his depth, both because of the position and level of opposition, Fusire has made great strides and has had a fantastic March.

Fusire played all four games in March for Sheffield Wednesday and received less than a seven rating from Sofascore in one game. The wingback has received an average rating of 6.9 in March, beating his previous high of 6.8.

His best performances, according to Sofascore, came in the Owls’ 1-1 draw with Watford, a game in which he received a 7.5 rating. Fusire set up the Wednesday goal. His excellent delivery found Jerry Yates, who headed the ball home.
