Dumbarton have announced the loan signing of one youngster from Celtic and one from Rangers.

Manager Frank McKeown moved to bolster his squad as the loan window came to a close yesterday, drafting in 19-year-old goalkeeper Aidan Rice from Parkhead and 17-year-old attacking midfielder Alexander Smith from Ibrox.

Both could feature against Stirling Albion in League Two today, pending SFA approval.

On Rice, McKeown said: “When I was aware of Aidan being available I knew that he would add real competition to our goalkeeping department given the quality he has. He is currently involved with the Celtic first team every day and will no doubt become a top class goalkeeper in years to come.

“He’s a very talented young player who had a lot of interest from clubs, including England, so we’re delighted to bring him to Dumbarton. He already has senior experience under his belt at both Inverness and with Celtic’s B team, and we know he’s got a real hunger and desire to build on that in his time as a Dumbarton player.
