Chelsea loanee Geovany Quenda is nearing a return to action after more than two months out, with his rehabilitation taking place in London rather than Lisbon.

According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, the 18-year-old is in the final stages of recovery at Cobham following surgery to the fifth metatarsal in his right foot. He has not featured since Sporting’s trip to the Estadio da Luz, but his comeback is now described as imminent.

Quenda, who will officially join Chelsea in July after his agreed transfer, has been following a detailed recovery plan overseen by the Premier League club.

The report states Chelsea have adopted a careful and structured programme focused not only on his competitive return, but also on medium and long-term physical protection.

There has been no rush. The process is said to be progressing positively, without unnecessary risks.
