Chelsea are now moving from interest to action in their pursuit of Valentín Barco, and sources from Argentina indicate that a deal is practically done.
For months, Liam Rosenior’s desire to reunite with the Argentine has shaped the club’s thinking. The Blues tried to sign him in January but fell short. However, they never stepped away from the idea.
This season, Barco has made 35 appearances in all competitions. He has registered one goal and ten assists, while establishing himself as one of Strasbourg’s main creative outlets.
He ranks among the team’s top chance creators and averages close to two key passes per game. In addition, he contributes heavily in build-up phases, with a strong volume of progressive passes.
That profile has convinced Chelsea to act decisively. And now, the situation appears to have accelerated.
Deal advancing – but not fully done yet
Argentine journalist Augusto César now reports that Barco “will be a Chelsea player”, with an agreement in place for a move in June.
