Liverpool have been told why they still have a chance of being able to sign Tottenham Hotspur star Micky van de Ven, even after agreeing a deal for Jeremy Jacquet. Transfer deadline day was mostly quiet for the Reds, but they did announce one signing with confirmation that a deal had been agreed with Rennes for the signing of Jacquet.

It has been confirmed that Jacquet will officially move to Liverpool in the summer after spending the rest of the season with Rennes.

Liverpool had agreed a £60million deal with Rennes for the signing of the 20-year-old central defender, which includes a £55million initial fee with a further £5million in add-ons.

The Reds had fended off reported competition from Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal for the signing of Jacquet, who will link up with the squad at Anfield ahead of next season.
