Tottenham's hopes of securing Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones appear to have been dashed after the Reds firmly rejected any possibility of his departure. Spurs were understood to have made enquiries about the homegrown talent earlier this month.

The Anfield outfit knocked back a loan proposal from Inter Milan submitted on Friday. The reigning Premier League champions have made it clear they will not permit a temporary exit for Jones, regardless of whether he commits to fresh terms on Merseyside.

The 25-year-old has featured 29 times in all competitions this season, contributing one assist. Jones has demonstrated his adaptability throughout the campaign, operating in central midfield whilst also filling in at right-back when required.

Manager Thomas Frank hasn't dismissed the prospect of Tottenham pursuing a loan addition before the window closes, though it seems Jones won't be that player. The north London outfit may seek additional cover given their lengthy injury list, which includes Mohammed Kudus, Rodrigo Bentancur, Lucas Bergvall, Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, Richarlison, Pedro Porro and Ben Davies.
