This grossly negligent board of directors at Celtic has already proved itself incapable of securing players in the last three transfer windows. So why, in God’s name, should we allow these same people to pick a manager when this window closes?

A lot of things are about to be clarified. A lot of things are going to crystallise in the minds of people who would prefer not to think about them at all. I will come back to that later.

First, though, we need to confront the grim inevitability that what we have witnessed over the last month is a preview of our summer, only worse.

This time, we also need to find a manager. On top of that, we now carry a reputation for signing players that is, frankly, in the gutter. No manager coming into Celtic can rely on being properly backed. Everyone knows they will have to operate inside this system, under these people, and they will inherit a mess.

That process should already be under way. The board cannot even give us that. Why not? Because uncertainty engulfs this club right now. They do not even know what they are selling.
