At this time of the year thoughts are turning to the festive season, that time of the year when plastic becomes elastic. Debts accumulate, people buy each other stuff they neither really want or really need and we stuff our gills and contemplate January diets. 71 days until the sale of our club is complete too.
All that’s a bit depressing, in 232 days it will be the Spring Bank Holiday, the weekend of the play off finals at Wembley, I suppose that would be when most of us would say the football season is over. The end of the football season is likely to be the next date we’ll be told by which the club will be sold.
There’s lots of football between now and then, we might even win a game! But looking at those two dates has become important to most of us because there is a sense that the status quo is neither desirable nor sustainable.
