Today (Wednesday, March 25) Rovers posted their accounts on Companies House covering the 12 months up to June 30 2025.

Figures show the club suffered a fall in revenues from £6m to £5.8m with pre-tax losses widening to £2.9m from £1.4m last year. Net assets totalled £14.7m, down from £16.7m.

Mr Palios, who owns the Wirral club along with his wife Nicola Palios, said: “The decision was taken to increase the clubs playing budget by £700,000 in order to improve the teams competitiveness in anticipation of an imminent sale of the club. As a result the group’s cash operating loss widened to £1.7m.

He added: "Unfortunately, the 24/25 season demonstrated how an increased playing budget does not always lead to an improvement in on pitch performances."

In February 2025 then-manager Nigel Adkins left Rovers by mutual agreement just 15 months after taking charge following a winless run of 10 League Two matches.

Coach Andy Crosby took temporary charge and steered Rovers to safety with the upturn in results leading to his appointment on a permanent basis.
