According to the Scottish Sun, and a story which has since been picked up by much of the wider media, Kyogo is now in line for a shock return to Celtic. The report suggests it could be done before kick-off at the weekend, which would require the club to move very quickly indeed. Whether we are capable of moving that fast is another matter entirely.

What I do know is that the Sun claims Celtic fans will be “delighted” by the news, which once again shows how little sections of the media understand this support.

We need a striker. We need one badly. But a player who has barely played football for a year and who has scarcely scored a goal in that time would not be my first choice.

Yes, some people will welcome the return of a former goalscoring hero on a short-term loan until the end of the season. It offers a quick fix. It also stands as an indictment of how we have ended up here.

I cannot get excited about this.

These are not the answers we should be looking for, and the fact that we are even considering them is a damning statement...
