There is a lot of anger and bitterness in the Celtic support right now, and much of it has been directed at members of The Collective, who have been blamed for almost everything that has gone wrong because they dared criticise the board.

But a great deal of this anger predates anything The Collective has done.

There is one site in Celtic fandom that was notorious for spewing hatred at Celtic managers and even a section of the Celtic support way before The Collective came along. It doesn’t just defend the directors. It treats them as sacrosanct. And while its host is a well-known Peter Lawwell loyalist, there’s an equally big issue lies with some of its regular contributors, who display an almost pathological hostility towards fellow fans and towards any view that challenges the site’s pro-board orthodoxy.

Some of the material published there distorts reality beyond recognition. That’s why much of the wider blogosphere mocks and derides it. At the heart of the site sits a strange and obsessive defence of the very people who dropped this club into the mess Martin O’Neill must now try to haul us out of.
