Liverpool's head coach, Arne Slot, has announced that British record signing Alexander Isak is set to return to training today, ahead of the Reds' crucial Premier League clash against Manchester City this weekend. The £125m striker has been sidelined for Liverpool's last four matches due to a groin problem.

However, following his recent call-up to the Swedish national team, Isak could potentially be included in Liverpool's squad for their journey to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday (4.30pm), marking the final match before the international break.

During his press conference this morning, however, the Liverpool manager urged patience. He stated: "Isak will train with team again after three weeks out.

"I know I said his pre-season has ended a few weeks ago, but if you've had three weeks with rehab it doesn't bring him back to the levels he was at.

"Even though our rehab has done an incredible job you can't replicate games. Again, I have to say give him some time."

Slot also addressed queries regarding the fitness of left-back Andy Robertson, who has participated in three matches within a week.
