John Barnes once had to apologise after accidentally sharing an adult image on his social media timeline.

The Liverpool legend uploaded a picture to his Twitter page (now X) of an alleged scathing comment made about US President Donald Trump's political ability by his own mother. However, his political upload landed him in a spot of bother.

But it wasn't for overstepping political boundaries, as fans were quick to point out the two-time PFA Players' Player of the Year had inadvertently included in the screenshot a jaw-dropping image at the bottom of his phone in the photo album.

When one user pointed out the gaffe and urged him to crop the X-rated clip out, the former midfielder, who celebrates his 62nd birthday today, replied: “Don’t know how to do that...

"I’m afraid to press buttons on this phone.. I’m 56 yrs old, so happy to just be able to get one or 2 words out on twitter that people understand!!”
