Calls for Ben Nelson to be named in the Leicester City team were finally answered on Tuesday night with Marti Cifuentes reacting to the weekend's defeat to Blackburn Rovers by starting the academy product for the first time in the Championship this season.

Despite the disappointing outcome of the result, which saw Luke Ayling grab an added time equaliser for Middlesbrough, Nelson came off the pitch with enough credit in the bank to start at Carrow Road.

Eighty-four days after his last appearance against Huddersfield Town in the EFL Cup in August, Nelson was handed a rare start by Cifuentes. The academy product hadn't been involved in a matchday squad since the 2-0 win over Birmingham City at the end of August.

Despite his lack of action and involvement in the past two months, Nelson showed no signs that he was missing match sharpness against one of the top two teams in the league.
