Luke Ayling’s 96th-minute header denied Leicester City a much-needed victory as Marti Cifuentes’ side failed to hold on against 10-man Middlesbrough.

City had looked to be claiming their first victory in five games and easing the tensions around the King Power Stadium when Ayling popped up at the death and nodded over debutant goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

Jordan Ayew’s first-half penalty after Hayden Hackney’s handball had separated the sides and when Alfie Jones was sent off late on for a last-man foul, City looked destined to win. But Ayling had other ideas, with City’s rotten run continuing.

City’s run of dismal form saw Cifuentes make some surprise changes to his line-up, both to the personnel and the formation.
