Liverpool have been warned by an injury expert that Alexander Isak may need to undergo surgery to prevent more problemsin the future. Isak is currently on the sidelines with a groin injury that forced him to miss the defeat to Brentford last weekend.

The Reds signed Isak from Newcastle United on transfer deadline day in a deal worth £125million. Since then, the Sweden international has scored just one goal across eight appearances and it remains to be seen when he will return to action.

Isak was substituted at half-time during Liverpool's win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League last week. The Reds face Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night before taking on Aston Villa at Anfield in the Premier League at the weekend, and it's unclear if Isak will be available for either match.
