As the saying goes, absence makes the heart grow fonder. And with each passing game of their absence, Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall's stock continues to rise. Livramento was ruled out for eight weeks at the start of October after suffering a knee injury.

Hall has a hamstring injury that has kept him out for a couple of weeks although Eddie Howe revealed last week he should be fit to return before the November international break.

But in their absence, Newcastle have been left without a recognised left-back and Dan Burn, naturally a centre-half by trade, has done an admirable job stepping in at left-back.

The England international did so, of course, during the 2022/23 season when Newcastle finished fourth in the Premier League table but in the last two seasons he has reverted back to his natural position.
