Anthony Gordon's stunning second-half display in Newcastle United's Champions League victory over Benfica is the talk of Europe today.

The England winger scored the opening goal and then set up Harvey Barnes for the third on a night when Eddie Howe's side underlined their credentials to the watching world.

Gordon was a threat throughout, but really stepped up his performance in the second period, linking up well with Nick Woltemade and creating havoc in the Benfica defence.

It prompted visiting manager Jose Mourinho to make a beeline for the United star at the final whistle, with his performance earning plaudits from many pundits.
