The plaudits have continued to roll in for Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon after his performance in Wednesday's 3-0 win over Benfica and deservedly so.

Gordon has consistently said this season that he feels he is in the best form of his career and while the numbers, in terms of goals and assists in the Premier League, haven't exactly backed that claim up, his display against the Portuguese giants certainly did.

The 24-year-old was a constant menace down Newcastle's left-hand side and he gave Bosnian international right-back Amar Dedic a torrid evening.

Gordon was direct and purposeful with the ball and was decisive in the final third. His lung busting run was rewarded when he latched on to Jacob Murphy's cutback to give Newcastle the lead in the first half - his fourth goal in three Champions League outings this term.
