Notts County head coach Martin Paterson says he is "really proud" of his players following their 2-2 draw with Swindon Town at the County Ground on Tuesday.

The Magpies led twice through Conor Grant and Alassana Jatta but were pegged back on each occasion by goals from Swindon striker Aaron Drinan either side of half-time.

"This group is improving and I'm really proud of them with a number of things but we need to keep getting better," Paterson told BBC Radio Nottingham.

"There's a bit of me that's really disappointed by not winning here. We had moments, and we had good control in the second half, where we should take the game away from them and create more opportunities.

"Sometimes you've got to respect the point – be positive about certain aspects but not brush over things you can improve on."

The draw moves Notts a point outside the League Two play-off places following back-to-back victories against promoted pair Barnet and Oldham Athletic.

"We're getting there - we're not there yet though," Paterson added. "We're not at the standards [I want] but we'll get there.
