Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has detailed why Benjamin Sesko wasn't included in his starting XI at Liverpool.

Sesko, who scored in consecutive Premier League games prior to our clash with the Merseysiders, was a surprise omission at Anfield, with some left curious.

The Slovenia international netted previously against both Sunderland and Brentford, but was tasked with making an impact from the bench against Arne Slot's men.

Amorim was pushed for a reason as to why the former RB Leipzig man didn't begin the contest against the reigning champions, explaining firstly his team selection headaches.

"Especially in the bad moments, you have to go with your guts and I always go by that, no matter what," began the boss when quizzed on the matter in his post-match press conference.

"I think it's the most important thing for the manager, right or wrong sometimes, but that is, for me, the key point of being a manager.
