Eyebrows were raised when Manchester United spent €15 million to sign Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich on Erik ten Hag’s orders.

Not because of the Moroccan’s footballing ability, as the Moroccan has always been regarded as a technical player capable of playing to a high level in any position.

But mainly due to his poor injury record. During his stint in Bavaria, the 27-year-old ended up missing over 30 games in two seasons.

However, in his debut campaign at Old Trafford, the former Ajax ace was hardly injured, missing only one game through illness last term.

In fact, he started 38 out of 42 games in all competitions under Ruben Amorim, which showed how important he was to the head coach’s plans.

However, familiar injury issues have returned to plague the Morocco international this season. He has already missed five out of eight games this term, and last featured for the Red Devils almost a month ago.

He was called up by his national team during the international break, but he did not feature in a single game, and instead he underwent a medical assessment and did recovery work.
