Florian Wirtz has not lived up to expectations so far since moving from Bayer Leverkusen for £116m.

Many had thought the Reds had ‘won’ the transfer window after seeing how many players they had signed, with the majority being names that are well-respected around Europe.

Wirtz was the pick of the bunch, though, and it looked like Liverpool had picked up an absolute diamond to add to their midfield, although things have not worked out the way many hoped.

The German is yet to score or assist in a Red shirt, with it still unclear where he fits into Arne Slot’s side due to competition for places.

Some have even written him off already, something that could prove to be a mistake after hearing what he is doing in training to try and get back to playing at the level everyone knows he is capable of.
