As Alisson Becker is out with an injury, it is now time for Giorgi Mamardashvili to cement himself as Liverpool’s future goalkeeper.

The Georgian signed for the Reds last year from Valencia, but remained at the Spanish club for last season until joining up with Arne Slot and company this summer.

Alisson suffered a hamstring injury in the Galatasaray game before the international break, which meant that Mamardashvili had to step in to take his place for the rest of the game, which he did very well.

Since then, he has stepped in for the Chelsea game, where he showed his quality despite conceding two, and will now be looking forward to joining back up with his teammates after his break with Georgia.

He is one of two known talents in his national side, alongside compatriot Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who is seen as one of the best talents in the world.

Kvaratskhelia plays for Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 and rose to prominence when signing for Napoli, where he lit up their left wing spot.

He and Liverpool’s second-choice goalkeeper have been away with their national team for the past week now, and in their most recent game lost to Spain.
