Newcastle United and Premier League legend Alan Shearer has claimed Liverpool manager Arne Slot does not fully trust Jeremie Frimpong yet as he backed Mohamed Salah to return to his best. At the end of last season, it was clear that Trent Alexander-Arnold would be departing Anfield at the expiry of his contract.

While Real Madrid eventually paid £10 million to release Alexander-Arnold early from his contract for the Club World Cup, the Reds were already in the process of replacing him before that deal was reached. Conor Bradley had played as Alexander-Arnold's understudy prior to his exit and Frimpong was signed from Bayer Leverkusen to increase competition for places in that position.

However, Frimpong has only started one Premier League match for Liverpool this season with a hamstring injury also playing a factor in his opportunities. While the Dutchman was expected to be the starter for the Reds, it is clear that has not been the case and Bradley has struggled to nail the position down too.
