Sevilla could revisit a move for Bournemouth right-back Julián Araujo after previously exploring his signing last summer. That’s according to a report from Estadio Deportivo.

The Spanish outlet claims Araujo, 24, was among Antonio Cordón’s preferred targets as the Sevilla sporting director searched for a new right-back. The plans were halted when academy duo José Ángel Carmona and Juanlu both stayed at the club.

Nottingham Forest had reached an agreement with Sevilla for Carmona worth around £7.6 million (€9m) plus add-ons. Wolverhampton Wanderers and Napoli also explored a deal for Juanlu. However, both players opted to remain in Andalusia, closing the door on a potential arrival.

Araujo, who joined Bournemouth from Barcelona and impressed during his loan spell at Las Palmas, has struggled for minutes this season under Andoni Iraola. He has yet to play a single Premier League match. He hasn’t even been in the squad for the last three games. Álex Jiménez and James Hill are currently preferred.

Iraola recently admitted it’s been “a difficult situation” for the Mexican international, explaining that others offer more positional flexibility.
