Peter Schmeichel, the legendary former Manchester United goalkeeper, took a swipe at Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir while giving his assessment of Senne Lammens' debut. After an impressive first outing, the iconic 'keeper was quick to manage expectations surrounding Lammens following his initial start. The summer recruit made his debut on Saturday afternoon, keeping a clean sheet in the 2-0 victory over newly-promoted Sunderland.

In a daring move, Ruben Amorim decided to bench Bayindir and give Lammens a chance to impress just before the international break. His introduction came at a challenging time for United's goalkeepers, with both Bayindir and Onana making several high-profile blunders. Onana recently made a temporary switch to Trabzonspor, allowing the 23-year-old to climb the ranks at Old Trafford and challenge Bayindir for a spot in the starting line-up.

Schmeichel couldn't resist pointing out the past errors from goalkeepers that have come back to bite United.

And even though the early indications are promising for Lammens, the multiple Premier League-winning goalkeeper emphasised that he didn't want to heap too much pressure on him.
