Funny how things can turn out. Within the space of a couple of weeks everything has changed at West Ham United with a fragile yet definite sense of optimism tiptoeing back after a single ninety minute performance showed us how far West Ham had departed from being a  ‘normal’ club.

If Nuno Espírito Santo simply steers West Ham back towards ‘normality’ with decisions based on logic and good judgement, the Hammers will be heading for safety come May ’26.

Lopetegui’s chaos ball and Potter’s possessional borefest had tried the patience of club and supporters. Now there is a fragile confidence growing that the future might not be a bad place to be.

However not everyone wins under Nuno Espirito Santo’s new broom and the ever-present James Ward Prowse would seem to have played his last game for West Ham. Tough to take but apparently received like a true professional.
