In the summer transfer window, West Ham emerged as a suitor for AS Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini and were linked on a daily basis in Italy.

The Serie A club were keen on the midfielder’s sale. His contract runs out in 2026 and Roma wanted to get his salary off their books and a transfer fee in.

Pellegrini has now returned to the first-team after scoring against Lazio. His future remains uncertain.

Gazzetta dello Sport, relayed by ForzaRoma, report West Ham are still in the picture for the signing. Indeed, it’s stated they’ve returned to the situation ahead of the winter market. The Hammers are now present as being ready to make an offer in the next market.

Roma have no intention of renewing the 29-year-old’s current contract. As a result, Pellegrini has also made a decision to leave in January.

West Ham will need a fee of €8m to sign the Italy international. The midfielder’s salary is around €5m per season and that won’t prove to be a problem for the Hammers.
