Former Norwich player Onel Hernandez has joined high-flying Charlton on a short-term contract following his release from Carrow Road.

The 32-year-old winger has put pen to paper on deal until January at The Valley.

Despite the transfer window slamming shut at the start of the month, clubs are able to snap up free agents.

And Hernandez has ended his four-month absence away from football by joining Norwich's Championship rivals having rejected overseas offers.

The 14-cap Cuba international spent the last seven years at Carrow Road having joined in January 2018.

He was part of two Championship promotion-winning campaigns to help Norwich return to the Premier League in both 2019 and 2021.

In total, Hernandez, who also enjoyed loan spells at Middlesbrough and Birmingham in the 2021/22 campaign, featured in 210 games for the Canaries in all competitions - scoring 15 times.
