Norwich City midfielder Anis Ben Slimane is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines because of a quad injury.

Slimane joined the Canaries on loan from Sheffield United for the first half of last season and his move became permanent in January.

His only appearance this term came as a late substitute in the EFL Cup against Southampton in August and he was linked with a possible move to his Tunisia homeland during the transfer window.

"He's one that, after the window had closed and he had some clarity on the situation, I pulled for a chat and said to keep doing what you're doing," head coach Liam Manning told the club website, external.

"Unfortunately, instead he'll be out for a considerable time."

Norwich return to action on Wednesday with a home game against West Bromwich Albion.
