Manchester United are weighing up a move for Werder Bremen centre-back Karim Coulibaly ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Sky Sport Germany.

The Red Devils recently reached an agreement with Harry Maguire over a new contract. He has extended his stay until June next year with an option for another 12 months.

Despite this, the club could still pursue another centre-back in the transfer market, and the focus could be on a left-footed option to compete for places with Lisandro Martinez.

Ayden Heaven had a good breakthrough earlier in the campaign, but has not played much under interim boss Michael Carrick, who could become the permanent head coach.

Sky Sport Germany now claim that top international clubs are ‘lining up’ moves for Coulibaly. Man United are one of those, who are closely monitoring the German wonderkid. Chelsea are more advanced in the race, having made contact with the player’s entourage over a summer deal.

The 18-year-old is described as a left-sided centre-back with a strong left-foot. He is 100 percent expected to leave Bremen, who have set a price between £35-44 million.
