Michael Edwards has been mooted for a Liverpool exit amid rumours that he’s unsettled on Merseyside, but he would be forfeiting a rather sizeable paycheck.

We can expect plenty of change at Anfield this summer, with a number of high-profile departures on the cards. Mohamed Salah is leaving Liverpool after nine years, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate have contracts expiring at the end of the season, and Arne Slot’s future is far from certain.

Up in the boardroom, there have been reports that Edwards is frustrated at Liverpool after the collapse of his multi-club plan. He could be next out the exit door, and it would free up a staggering eight-figure sum in the club’s accounts.

Edwards has been a huge part of the success Liverpool have had since the arrival of Jurgen Klopp ten years ago. He is partly responsible for the incredible run of successful recruitment that brought the Reds back to the top of the sport.

Without diminishing all he has done, the salary he is earning at Liverpool beggars belief.
