Sunderland transfer chief Florent Ghisolfi

Sunderland could consider making a transfer move for UD Almería’s Sergio Arribas in the summer.

The 24-year-old’s development at the Segunda División side hasn’t gone unnoticed and already caught Sunderland sporting director Florent Ghisolfi’s attention.

He came up through the ranks of Real Madrid’s youth system and ended up playing 14 matches for their first team between 2020 and 2023.

The attacking midfielder had managed to attract Premier League interest in the past. Real Madrid sold him to Almería in August 2023 and in that summer, Sport Witness relayed news of Chelsea’s interest.

His decision to join Almería has clearly worked out as he not only enjoys regular minutes but is also starring for them.

The Spaniard has managed 38 goals and 16 assists from 116 matches. This includes 20 goals and seven assists from 34 matches this season.

His league stats are as follows:

  • Key passes per game: 2.3
  • Shots on target per game: 1.3
  • Successful dribbles per game: 1.1
  • Accurate passes: 86%
  • Goal conversion: 26%
  • Big chances missed: 11
