The popularity of some Newcastle players has severely dipped

Newcastle United's late season slump has seen the standing of key players crash in the eyes of many fans, ahead of what could be a seismic summer transfer window.

While the Magpies enter the final seven games of the Premier League season with hopes of securing European football next term, morale on the terraces has been severely dented by a brusing 7-2 defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League, and the 2-1 St James' Park loss to Sunderland.

With financial restrictions continuing to mean the club will need to sell some players this summer if they want to continue to invest in the first-team squad, several big-name stars have been linked with a move away from St James' Park.
