Manchester United want to secure a ‘quick’ agreement with Nottingham Forest for midfielder Elliot Anderson before the summer World Cup, according to The Sun.

The Red Devils are poised to reinforce the defensive midfield department with Casemiro set to depart on a free transfer. The Brazilian will leave when his contract expires on June 30.

Anderson is one of the top names on their transfer wishlist. Manchester City are leading the race to sign him, but United remain optimistic of landing his signature ahead of their rivals.

Amidst this, The Sun claim that both United and City are expected to move quickly for the England international as his price could soar higher if he impresses at the World Cup.

Anderson is reportedly valued at around £100 million. The transfer window will reopen on June 15, but United are planning to advance talks for the player in the days leading up to it.

The 23-year-old has been a revelation for Forest since his switch from Newcastle United for £35 million. He had a good debut season and has fared much better in the current campaign.
