TRIBUTES have been paid to Southampton Women legend and former England international Lynda Hale following her death.

Hale scored in the first-ever official England women’s fixture at 18 years of age, helping her country to a 3-2 victory over Scotland in November 1972.

At club level, she represented her hometown team, Southampton, with whom she won the Women’s FA Cup a remarkable seven times.

With Hale in the side, Southampton won five of the first six Women's FA Cup trophies. They remain the second-most decorated club in the competition's history with eight wins.
