Pat Nevin reckons that Chelsea would be willing to sell Cole Palmer to Manchester United, so long as they make a ‘massive profit’. The Blues signed the 23-year-old midfielder from Manchester City for just £40m in September 2023, taking the total spend under the Clearlake Capital and Todd Boehly to just over £1bn.

Although Chelsea have since splashed a further £546m on players, they’ve raked in almost as much in player sales (£502m) during the same period. With such a high turnover of talent, Nevin believes that the west Londoners have been reduced to a ‘trading club’ that would happily cash in on a star player.

Speaking to BestBettingSites.co.uk, the former Chelsea winger said: “I don’t think it comes down to whether Chelsea would sell – they would.

“Would Manchester United want him? They probably would. Would the money be difficult? No, they would probably sort that out.
