Former Newcastle United star Isaac Hayden was involved in an angry confrontation with fans following QPR's 5-0 thrashing by Southampton. The ex-Magpie could not prevent the Hoops from being swept aside in the Championship on Tuesday evening against the Saints.

Hayden, who joined QPR on a free transfer in August after making his Newcastle exit via mutual consent after a nine-year stay, made his way across to his supporters in the away end at St Mary's and soon found himself in a frustrated conflict. The 30-year-old was spotted in a heated conversation with a fan in the front row.

The Jamaica international retained his composure, and things did not seem to escalate too far before he made his way off the field. The disastrous result sees the R's drop seven points away from the play-off spots, and they sit in 13th, the highest-placed team with a negative goal difference.

Speaking following the match, Hayden's boss, Julien Stephan, lamented his inability to rest and rotate efficiently.
