Kieran Trippier has paid an emotional tribute to Newcastle fans after announcing he  will leave the club at the end of the season.

The full back, 35, joined the club from Atletico Madrid in January 2022 and has made 158 appearances for Eddie Howe's side since.

He was a crucial part of the team which ended the club's 70-year trophy drought, winning the Carabao Cup at Wembley last year.

'The time has come to leave this amazing club after four-and-a-half years,' said Trippier in a club statement on Saturday morning. 

'This is where I have felt most at home. It’s emotional, and I’m really going to miss it.

'I want to say a massive thank you to the supporters for all the support through the good and the bad times for me personally. You've always supported me, always stood by me.
