Leicester City’s situation grew more desperate on Saturday as they fell into the Championship’s bottom three, and with no new manager in sight.

While City were being knocked out of the FA Cup by Southampton, they had the double blow of seeing Blackburn win at QPR, a result that leaves them 22nd in the Championship table.

It was a debut win for new Rovers manager Michael O’Neill, with his appointment leaving City as the only managerless club in the division.

It has now been 20 days since Marti Cifuentes was sacked, and in that time interim boss Andy King has overseen three league defeats and an extra-time cup exit. He is in the dark over the manager search.

Asked if there was an update, he said: “Nope. I’m sorry to keep letting you guys down about that. It’s not a question for me. I can’t answer you on that.”
