“Financially, it wasn’t possible…there were players that we were looking at for the future, younger players we could develop. Ultimately, it didn’t happen. I didn’t think there was a player coming in that could affect us [for the rest of this season].

“We are working within the financial restrictions that we have and during this window. there was a willingness to spend…but of course, we have to work within the PSR limits. You have to make a decision with what [PSR] room you have, whether you can find the right player that fits.

“We had a short-term need. We had a need for someone to come in and play now, especially defensively. But for those players, it costs money…and there’s a level [of financial cost] attached to their ability that we can’t...
