Newcastle United’s growing transfer interest in Grêmio defender Viery comes at a time when the Brazilian side are still settling their defensive structure for the season.

The Premier League club have already sent a scout to watch the 21-year-old live. That visit came during the recent state championship final, where Viery again started and delivered a composed display.

His rise has been quick, and somewhat unexpected, and it’s caught Newcastle United transfer attention.

At the start of 2026, Viery was not seen as a guaranteed starter. However, injuries and inconsistency elsewhere in the squad opened the door. Since then, he has taken it firmly.
