Birmingham City showed interest in a move for Mjällby AIF’s Abdoulie Manneh in the winter market.

Chris Davies’ side made advances to bring the 21-year-old to St Andrew’s. He had made a trip to England to complete a move to Birmingham City.

On January 14th, Mjällby sporting director Hasse Larsson confirmed an agreement with Birmingham City. However, the transfer collapsed and the official then wasn’t certain as to why the Blues pulled the plug.

“We had an agreement with Birmingham. But something has gone wrong, I don’t know what yet,” he said at that time.

After his move to Birmingham City didn’t go through, the Gambia international didn’t return to Mjällby or join their training camp in Portugal. Instead, he remained in the UK.

Last week, the Swedish club confirmed he’s looking another club in the Championship. He never ended up finding a new club in England before the window closed on Monday.

Larsson again spoke to the Swedish media on Monday and Aftonbladet have relayed his comments.

Last summer, Manneh saw him move to Olympiacos collapse. He missed out on Davies’ side and another unnamed English club in the recently concluded window.
