Huddersfield Town have signed goalkeeper Nik Tzanev on a free transfer from Newport County.

The stopper has joined the Terriers from the League Two outfit on deadline day, with the 29-year-old becoming Town’s fourth signing of the window.

The former AFC Wimbledon and Northampton Town goalkeeper made 13 appearances for the Exiles in the first half of the season, while the recruit has also been capped twice by New Zealand in his career to date.

“Having allowed Jacob Chapman to head out on loan earlier this month, we felt that if the right opportunity came to add another senior goalkeeper to the squad presented itself before the window closed, that would be something worth exploring,” Town's head coach Liam Manning told his club’s website.

“With experience of international football and plenty of exposure to the wider EFL and League One in particular, Nik will be able to slot straight into our squad and work alongside Lee (Nicholls) and Jak (Alnwick) under Chris Elliott (goalkeeping coach) from day one.”
