Tottenham making a move to sign Andy Robertson from Liverpool during the January transfer window has been heavily questioned. However, it actually does make a lot of sense.

It has been a challenging first six months in north London for head coach Thomas Frank with results in the Premier League particularly disappointing. Spurs head into this weekend's clash away at Burnley in fourteenth and closer to bottom side Wolves than league leaders Arsenal.

Pressure on Frank's job from supporters has been significant, as a result, though a 2-0 Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund saw that ease. Nonetheless, there are still concerns over his long-term future with the decision to try and sign Robertson criticised even though his signing would actually solve quite a few problems.
