Peter Crouch believes England international Anthony Gordon has the "selfish streak" to replace Mohamed Salah at Liverpool next season.

Salah confirmed last week he will leave Anfield at the end of the season on a free transfer after nine years at the club during which he has become their third-highest goalscorer in history.

Liverpool have subsequently been linked with a raft of potential new signings on the right flank as they look to strengthen their attacking options.

And former Liverpool striker Crouch believes Gordon - who was close to moving to Anfield from Newcastle United in the summer of 2024 - would represent a good move for the Reds.

“It’ll be a very different Liverpool," said Crouch of life after Salah. "Mo’s achieved everything at Liverpool and deserves this opportunity to try something else.

"But for Liverpool, how do you replace him? Last season he had more than 40 goals and assists (combined)....
